The Death of Judge Riddick

From October 29th through November 1st, Riddick's Folly mourned the passing of Judge Nathaniel Riddick (1819-1882).

For three days, reenactors portrayed Judge Riddick's immediate family in various states of mourning to show visitors the 19th-century origins of modern mourning customs.

On Saturday, November 1st, Riddick's Folly recreated the funeral procession of Judge Riddick. This funeral procession on New Year's Day in 1883 was one of the largest ever held in Suffolk, with nearly everyone in the community in attendance.
