Abolitionists' Museum
Riddick's Folly celebrates Black History Month with this theatrical production by award-winning playwright, Sheri Bailey.
This program features Harriet Beecher Stowe, John Brown, Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Nat Turner, and David Walker as wax figures in a museum where the curator has hung a Confederate flag. Using words from their writings and speeches, these eight historical figures debate what to do with this symbol of a past upon which each had a major impact.
A post-show discussion with the audience follows.
Sheri Bailey is the recipient of a NEA Individual Theatre Fellowship, two 2001 Virginia Commision for the Arts grants, and winner of numerous awards and honors, including three NAACP Image Awards "Best Playwright" nominations.
This event is free to the public.
Saturday, February 21st -- 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm
